These terms apply to the ezTerm desktop application and theezterm.zerosandones.us website, operated by Zeros and Ones LLC ("we", "us"). By downloading, installing, or using ezTerm, or by using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the software or the site.
License
ezTerm is free, open-source software licensed under theGNU General Public License, version 3 (GPLv3). The GPLv3 governs your rights to use, copy, modify, and redistribute the software. Nothing in these terms restricts the rights the GPLv3 grants you; these terms supplement it with respect to the website, downloads, and your use of the software.
Disclaimer of warranty
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SOFTWARE AND THE WEBSITE ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR UNINTERRUPTED, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, OR THAT THE SOFTWARE IS FREE OF VULNERABILITIES. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE SOFTWARE IS WITH YOU. SHOULD THE SOFTWARE PROVE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME THE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR, OR CORRECTION.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL ZEROS AND ONES LLC, ITS MEMBERS, CONTRIBUTORS, OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES WHATSOEVER — INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF CREDENTIALS, DATA BEING RENDERED INACCURATE, UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO YOUR SYSTEMS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, LOST PROFITS, OR FAILURE OF THE SOFTWARE TO OPERATE WITH ANY OTHER SOFTWARE — ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE OR THE WEBSITE, HOWEVER CAUSED AND UNDER ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY (CONTRACT, TORT, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE), EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. Your responsibilities
ezTerm is a tool for connecting to remote systems. You are solely responsible for:
- Only connecting to systems you own or are authorized to access, and complying with all applicable laws and the policies of the systems and networks you use.
- Safeguarding your master password, credentials, and keys. If you lose your master password, your vault cannot be recovered — by you or by us.
- Maintaining backups of your data. Verify host key fingerprints and exercise your own judgment when accepting new hosts.
- Anything you do on remote systems through ezTerm, including commands executed and files transferred or deleted.
Third-party services and software
Updates are distributed via GitHub Releases, and the optional X server component (VcXsrv) is downloaded from SourceForge. These are independent services with their own terms; we are not responsible for their availability or content. VcXsrv is separate software with its own license and is not part of ezTerm.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Zeros and Ones LLC and the project's contributors from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use or misuse of the software, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time; changes take effect when posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the software or site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. The full history of this document is available in the public repository.
